Services
Peak Garage Door Repair is based in Conroe and covers The Woodlands, a straight run south down I-45. We repair broken springs and cables, fix openers that hum and do nothing, put off-track doors back where they belong, and replace doors that are past saving. We serve homes and businesses across the 77380, 77381, 77382, 77384, 77385 and 77389 ZIP codes. You get the diagnosis and the price before any work starts, and nothing is added without your go-ahead.
We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
The Woodlands was planned around its forest. Homes sit under tall pines and hardwoods, streets wind through greenbelts, and many garages face a driveway that spends most of the day in shade. That is a large part of the community's appeal, and it is also hard on garage doors.
Pine needles, pollen and sap. Needles collect in the tracks and along the bottom seal, pollen coats the photo-eye lenses each spring, and sap gums up rollers and hinges. A door that suddenly reverses for no reason is very often a sensor lens covered in yellow dust or blocked by debris.
Shade and damp. A garage that rarely gets direct sun stays humid. Springs, cables and the bottom fixture where the cable attaches are the first places rust shows, and rust on a spring creates weak points that shorten its life. We see cables frayed at the bottom bracket on doors that are otherwise in good shape.
Falling limbs and storms. Tall trees close to the house mean branches can land on a driveway or against a door during a storm. A door that has taken a hit may still run, but bent tracks or a damaged section can make it bind or come off its rollers. If your door looks crooked after a storm, stop running it and call. Our off-track door repair page explains why.
The Woodlands has grown village by village since Grogan's Mill opened in 1974, followed by Panther Creek and the villages that came after, out to Creekside Park, the newest. That spread of ages shows up in the garages.
In the older villages, many homes have doors and openers that have been replaced once or twice already, sometimes piecemeal: a newer door on an older opener, or the reverse. Some still have extension springs running alongside the tracks rather than a torsion spring over the opening. If yours do, and there is no safety cable running through the middle of each spring, that is worth fixing even if nothing has broken, because an extension spring that snaps without one can whip across the garage.
In the newer villages, the common problem is age arriving all at once. Builder torsion springs are typically rated for around 10,000 cycles, and a busy household can use that up in six to eight years. When a street was built in the same couple of years, the springs on that street tend to break in the same couple of years too. See our spring repair page for how we size replacements and when higher-cycle springs are worth it.
This is the part that catches people out. The Woodlands has its own covenant and design review process run through The Woodlands Township, and garage doors are on the Township's list of home modifications. Changing the style, colour or material of a garage door is not always as simple as picking one you like.
We do not give advice on covenants, and the rules can vary between villages and neighbourhoods. The practical advice is simple: if you are replacing a door rather than repairing it, check with the Township's covenant administration team before you order, and find out whether your change needs an application. A like-for-like replacement in the same style and colour is usually the easiest path. If you need something different, we can give you the details of the door you are considering so you have what you need for any application.
Repairs are a different matter. Replacing springs, cables, rollers or an opener does not change how the door looks from the street. For new doors, see our installation and replacement page.
Many homes in The Woodlands use the garage as the main entrance, with several drivers, children coming and going, and a door that might cycle a dozen times on a busy day. That is hard on chain-drive openers and on the springs that do the real lifting.
When an opener runs but the door does not move, the cause is usually a worn drive gear, a trolley problem, or an emergency release that has been pulled. When it will not run at all, it may be power, the wall control, or the logic board. Our opener repair page goes through the common faults. If you are replacing an opener anyway, a quieter belt-drive unit makes sense where a bedroom sits over the garage.
The Woodlands has a large commercial side, from retail and restaurants to offices and service businesses with loading areas. We repair and service roll-up sheet doors, rolling steel service doors and commercial sectional doors. See commercial garage doors for details.

Questions
Once a year is a sensible minimum for most homes, and spring is a good time, after the pollen has fallen. A maintenance visit covers lubrication, balance, cable and roller checks, and the opener's safety settings. Between visits, wiping the photo-eye lenses and clearing needles out of the tracks are safe jobs to do yourself.
We strongly advise against it. Torsion springs and the cables attached to them are under high tension, and that is where most serious garage door injuries happen. Leave the door where it is, do not keep pressing the opener button, and call.
Repairs that do not change the look of the door, such as springs, cables, rollers or an opener, do not change anything visible from the street. Anything that changes the door's appearance is a different question, and that is one for the Township rather than for us. Check your community's rules if you are unsure.
No. The Woodlands is part of our regular area, and it is a straight run down I-45 from Conroe. If you are at the far edge of it and we cannot reach you in good time, we will say so on the phone rather than leave you waiting.
Yes. We diagnose the door, explain what failed, and give you the price before any work begins. Nothing extra is added without your say-so.
